In 2016, Eijas was a research assistant under prominent academician and social activist Dr. Syed Husin Ali for his book project, “Sejarah Rakyat Malaysia” or “A People’s History of Malaysia”.
The book was the first attempt at writing a people’s history of the country. For this project, Eijas had to look into different periods of Malaysian history and find instances of bottom-up movements, grassroots organising, and examples of popular resistance. Aside from that, he also co-wrote the second chapter of the book. The chapter focused on pre-historic Malaya and the early kingdoms that dominated Southeast Asia at the time.
